ISAAC!!!!

My sweet little boy is 7 years old today!  7!

7 years ago today he entered this world a tiny, bald 8 pound, 8 ounce baby.  Born at home after a beautiful birth.

And here we are 7 years later.  He is a lean, blond, viking of a boy.   He is totaly and completely so full of life.

He wears his emotions on his sleeve, adores his baby sisters, is tender and kind hearted.

Maybe, just mabye he will let me take some recent photos of him today :)

This song to me tells of Isaac.

This is a call to the colorblind
This is an IOU
I’m stranded behind the horizon line
Tied up in something true

Yes I’m grounded
Got my wings clipped
I’m surrounded by all this pavement
Guess I’ll circle
While I’m waiting for my fuse to dry

Chorus:
Someday I’ll fly
Someday I’ll soar
Someday I’ll be so damn much more
Cause I’m bigger than my body gives me credit for

Why is it not the time?
What is there more to learn?.. yeah
I shed this skin I’ve been tripping in
Never to quite return

Yes I’m grounded
Got my wings clipped
I’m surrounded by all this pavement
Guess I’ll circle
While I’m waiting for my fuse to dry

Someday I’ll fly
Someday I’ll soar
Someday I’ll be so damn much more
Cause I’m bigger than my body gives me credit for
Cause I’m bigger than my body now

Maybe I’ll tangle in the power lines
And it might be over in a second’s time
But I’ll gladly go down in a flame
If a flame’s what it takes to remember my name
To remember my name, yeah

Yes I’m grounded
Got my wings clipped
I’m surrounded by all this pavement
Guess I’ll circle
While I’m waiting for my fuse to dry
Waiting for my fuse to dry

Someday I’ll fly
Someday I’ll soar
Someday I’ll be so damn much more
Cause I’m bigger than my body
I’m bigger than my body
I’m bigger than my body now

Oooh… Oooh….Ooo..Ooo
Oooh… Oooh….Ooo..Ooo

(Bigger than My Body Gives me Credit For)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC!

the Boy with the $5,000 smile

Make that $5,134.00 and counting…..

I am not sure if that is the exact number.  But we have spent a pretty penny on this boy’s teeth.  So, I sure hope he ends up with a cute smile, dimple to dimple.

Today was another trip to the dentist.  Spacer replaced, cleaning, and another appointment to fill the four cavities they found today.

With this child, one dentist appointment is just about guaranteed to turn into four more appointments.

kateu

Kateu?  Or Who is Kateu?

I was asking Isaac yesterday about the friends in his class.  He tells me about a girl named Kateu.   I thought it was a very interesting name and asked about her.  He informed me that she has blond hair.  Evidently Isaac likes blonds, his other friend, Jenna, is blond.

Well, all of a suddnen that light bulb moment, news flash.  It isn’t Kateu.  It is Kate U. How do I know this?  I went through Elementry School known as Kimberlee L. (or sometimes Kim L., but we won’t go there).  There was Kimberly A.  Kimberly C.  Kimberlee L. (that was me) and Kimberly R.

So, Kate U.  I wonder who the other Kate is.

We happen to like the name Kate, but  we spelled it Cait and since it isn’t a first name she won’t be known as Cait K. or CaitK when she is in first grade.

SEP’s

We had SEP’s for Marina and Nick yesterday.   This is the same as the old parent-teacher conferences.  Isaac’s teacher is on maternity leave with a new baby boy.

I think both kids have good teachers for them.  Marina’s teacher doesn’t let her give excuses and is available for her to ask questions.  Marina is doing well in all subjects, even the ones that tend to be really tough for her.  She is so clever and creative.   I loved looking through her projects and artwork.  Marina works hard in school and is a good praticipator.

Nicolas is a hard worker and is doing well in almost everything.  Those subjects he is struggling in are because he is not a strong reader.  He goes to reading club one day a week so he can get extra help with his reading.  We think once his reading falls into place better, he will do better on the other subject he is struggling with.  Nicolas doesn’t goof off, or play at school until after his school work is done.   He is so sweet and kind at school.   He is well liked by peers, his teacher, and the staff.   I enjoyed looking at his projects too.

On a side note:  Isaac is also a good match with his teacher.  She has worked very hard with me as a team to work on some behavoir issues we were having.  He is no longer ‘on contract’ which means he has improved to the point he doesn’t need that level of accountability.  He is so sweet with his teacher and she likes him very much.  I did talk with her on the phone one night.  Her and her substitue are in daily contact and keep me informed to Isaac’s progress.

I am grateful my kids alll seem to have good teachers this year.  A good teacher makes so much difference in my children’s lives and education.

What a day

Deep In hale….slowly exhale.  All is well.

Tonight I am so getting some Ben and Jerry’s.

We woke up to THIS

Pretty flower, eh?  Not so pretty, and very cold snow.

{{{{BRRRRR}}}}}

And…we are still sick!

This round

4 people with stomach flu

4 people with colds

1 small boy with asthma.

His asthma routine consists of breathing treatments morning and night with a maintence medication.  Breathing treatments as needed for symptoms with albuterol (rescue medication).   This has been up to four times a day.

But if all goes well, we will be escaping winter and headed for Cali mid week!  Wish us luck and pray for a safe trip.

A salesman, or a politician

You decide

We can also file this under reason #46 I hate public school.

Happenings Books

(any of those fund raiser sales)

Isaac come home from school yesterday all excited to sell me a happenings books.

“But Mom, You can go all over the world with this book.  See this card.  You can go all over the world.”

“Even China”

The evening goes on and he is all excited about this book.  Trying to sell it to me.  Carrying it around with him everywhere.

He realizes he needs to up the anty in order for me to buy into this.

“Mom, the money from this book goes to help poor little children who don’t have any health care,  so they can go to the doctor.”

Isaacism

This little guy says the funniest things.  He is such a Joy.

Yesterday we were talking about age and what is old.  I asked him

Me “How old am I going to live?”

Isaac “Just a second, let me listen to your heart.  It will tell me”.

(He put his head on my chest for a moment and listened to my heart)

Then he said “You will live to be 101 or maybe 105.”

Me “Wow, that is a long time”.

Isaac “It is just a couple of years”.

Impressive

Isaac found a box of stuff of things I have from High School. I’m not sure why he decided to go through it but he noticed a number of ‘awards’. Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, Citizenship, etc. And well….Isaac is very impressed. He said

“Wow Mom, you must be smart”.

Then he went on and said something about all I do is change diapers. LOL. That was funny. I said “Yes, but I am using my skills to do the very best thing I can be doing.”

All these brains and I spend my time changing diapers. That is how it should be :)
