Scriptures & Scripture Study

Almost 2 years ago I started daily scripture study again, after a long hiatus.  At first it was just one thing on the ‘to do’ list.  Brush my teeth, get kids to bed, read scriptures.  Soon I found that I was learning from and enjoying my nightly scripture study.  It is one of the parts of day I really look forward to.

So often I have been praying about something, or stressed about something and in my scripture reading that night I have found my answers.  This happens so often.

Currently I am reading through “The Prophets of the Church” manuals as part of my scipture study.  I am reading the Harld B. Lee manual.  I lost it for about a week.  During that week I contunied reading the scriptures but it was a lot more haphazard because I didn’t have somethine else planned.  But every night I would open those scriptures and learn something else.

Over the past 2 years I have developed an appreciation and love for the scriptures.  I am grateful we have them.

“I don’t get paid enough to do this”

So I was thinking this morning at 4 a.m. after I can’t remember the last time I slept.

4 a.m. and I was

*Changing sheets on the bed for the second time that night.

*changing clothes of 2 children

*listening to two babies cry while I was trying to get this all done.

*cleaning up the carpet.

*bathing one child

and this after we have had sickies in the house for four weeks.

Colds, Mastitis, croup, colds, and now (drum roll please) stomach flu.

Last night I had two little girls up with croup.  One little boy up with stomach flu.

And it goes round and round and round.

I’m unfortunantly grumpy.

But we all know mommyhood is monitarily one of the poorest paying, and unappreciative jobs around, but so very full of joy and reward.

Fridge Magnets

My sister came over the other day for dinner.  She noticed all the little notes and what not I have taped to my fridge.  She is so sweet and decided fridge magnets would probaby look a bit better than blue masking tape.  She is right.

Yesterday when she came for dinner she brought me about 20 of these cute little button fridge magnets.  Not my little notes are held up with cute little button magnets made with love by Melaina and Ben.

The Last Day of Summer

Tomorrow is the Autumnal Equionox.  Summer ends officially at 3:40 p.m.

You know, I am having a difficult time coming up with my top 10 reasons to welcome Autumn.  Lets see if we can do it.

10.  Halloween.  It is one of my favorite holidays

9.  The changing leaves really are pretty…and a great photo op.

8.  Save on the electricity bill by not running the a/c

7.  I enjoy pulling out and wearing the winter sweaters.

6.  Winter Solstice, the day the days start getting longer, is just around the corner.

5.   I enjoy making warming soups, breaks, etc. for dinner.  It is cool enough to start our winter menu’s now.

4.  I can reflect on a great summer and enjoy the memories of long, hot days basking in the sun.

(but since I am working on living “in the moment” a bit better, that might not be a great reason).

3.  Oh, warming fires in the fireplace and long hot baths.

2.  Long Hot baths.  I love these.

and the number one reason to welcome fall

1.  Something to look forward too.  Summer will come again next year.

(but there goes the ‘living in the moment’ thing again).

Goodbye Wonderful Summer, and Hello Autumn!

7 months

She is growing way too fast IMO but what do you do?  I soak up every moment I have with her.

She is babbling fluently now.  We don’t understand much of it.  But she says “Mama” and I think maybe “Night Night”.  She pulls up on everything.  She loves to be held and I love holding her.  She is such a Joy.

You Go Girl!

The kids in the neighborhood spend the afternoons, evenings, weekends, on their skateboards and bikes.  They have ramps set up at each end of the culdesac, they have jumps in one of the yards.  It is quite the course.  All day they are out there pounding the pavement with their skateboards and bikes.

Zoe is not one to be left behind.  Not that girl.  Nevermind she is *two*.  Yes, all of two.  She goes out on her little tricycle and she rides and rides with the other kids.  She waits in line and takes her turn on the jumps.  She peddles fast and takes her turn on the ramp.

Little teeny Zoe, Little teeny tricycle but she is doing her best to keep up with all those big kids.

A few of my favorite things

SUNFLOWERS!!!!  Sunflowers give me strength and happiness.  They represent so much to me.  They often withstand harsh conditions, bringing beauty.  They face the sun.  They are happy, strong flowers that thrive even in adversity.

My Sweet little children know how much I love sunflowers and planted these in the garden for me.  It is always such a neat surprise to look out the window when I am working in my kitchen and see these gorgeous flowers.

This is what I am talking about
